Theater 200: Acceptance
Synopsis:
While lying in his hospital bed, David reaches out to his estranged daughter Julie and her husband Robert and requests a visit to clear the air and apologize for all the cruel things he said and did in the past. Can she accept him as her father?

Martin Fogarty is an Asian-American part-time playwright and acting coach based out of Oregon. He studied his Master’s in Acting at the University of Washington PATP program and majored in Drama and English at the University of Oregon. Martin is interested in creating stories that bring people together, instead of being divisive. “I think if we looked close enough, we would find we have much more in common with each other than we think. We should be celebrating our differences, not using them as an excuse to alienate one another.” Martin would like to thank Bernadette and Open Door Playhouse for this opportunity to share his work.

Mimi has directed several short plays, including Matriarch, an Open-Door Playhouse production that she also wrote. Other Open-Door Playhouse directing credits include Diamonds are A Girl’s Best…? and The Marshmallow Connection. She also wrote and directed Leap and Fence, which were produced at Theatre West, where she is a company member. In addition, she has performed in a variety of plays, including Bittersweet Oranges, an original production, at Theatre West and Network at The Group Rep, where she is also a member. She has also performed in short films and cabarets and has written and performed stand-up comedy.

Noelle Evangelisti (Julie)
Noelle earned an MFA in Acting from California Institute of the Arts. She has worked on major motion pictures including: Terminator Two: Judgement Day, LA Confidential, The Babysitter and Pacific Heights. Noelle has performed in numerous theaters in Los Angeles and Chicago. Three of her favorite and most memorable roles were: Prudence in Beyond Therapy at Ruth Page in Chicago, Liz in The Philadelphia Story and The Nurse in Romeo and Juliet at Hillside Rep in Los Angeles. She still loves working on commercials and voiceovers and had a great time doing a radio play pre-Covid with the Screen Actors Guild. She feels blessed to work with Bernadette and everyone at Open Door!
Noelle Evangelisti
David Mingrino (David)
David has been onstage in over 100 productions… He was recently seen in the World Premieres of Incitation to the Dance, Walking in Space and The Man Who Saved Everything at Theatre West. His theatre credits also include The Petrified Forest, Room Service (which received six Ovation nominations, including best ensemble cast), 411 Joseph (which ran five months at the Group Repertory), and Picnic. In summer stock and dinner theatre, he has been in many a musical, including Motel, Fiddler on the Roof as Motel the tailor, Godspell as Jesus, and Cabaret as the Emcee. He even got to dance “Steam Heat” in The Pajama Game. He has been in three independent features: The Haunted Maze (now on Amazon Prime), Sweet and The Devil Within.
His short film list is long. It includes Rocky: The Final Battle, Retribution (Amazon) and The Mind Game (Vimeo). His directing credits include The World Goes ‘Round and the cabaret shows Vamping Till Ready and Desire, which he also conceived.

Ernest McDaniel (Robert)
Ernest studied theatrical arts at L'École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq, Paris, and mime with Marcel Marceau at his school, Ecole Internationale de Mimodrame de Paris. He started his career in Detroit. While there, he performed in Mikhail Baryshnikov’s Past Forward, toured as the lead carpenter for the Broadway tour of Raisin, and did several national tours of his one-man educational mime show, teaching children story writing through mime.
Ernest has been nominated for lighting, set and audio awards, having won Best Set Design for Theatre West’s production of Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 and Best Technical Director for The Jewish Ensemble Theatre’s production of Never the Sinner.
